Foreplay alternatives for ad research and creative
Compare Foreplay.co alternatives by task, price and tradeoff. Find tools for Meta rival research, shared swipe files and your own account analytics.
The best Foreplay alternative depends on which part of Foreplay you use. If your team lives in shared boards and briefs, Foreplay is hard to replace. If you mostly track rivals and want to turn what you find into ads, a narrower tool fits better.
- Follow Meta rivals and make your own version of an ad: StealAds.
- Research, creation and your own account analytics together: Atria.
- Detailed Facebook and Instagram search filters: AdSpy.
- A free research plan to start with: BigSpy.
Disclosure: we make StealAds, so we compete with Foreplay and the other paid tools below. Every price and feature here comes from the vendor’s own page, linked in the sources.
Updated and last verified: November 5, 2026. Prices are as of November 2026.
When is Foreplay.co the better choice than an alternative?
Keep Foreplay on your list when your team needs to collect references from several ad libraries, organize boards and turn those references into briefs. Foreplay’s pricing page lists a Chrome saving extension for Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn ad libraries, plus other sources. Team comments, tags and share links help you keep the reference and the conversation together.
Foreplay also offers more than a swipe file. Spyder tracks competitor Meta ads; Lens analyzes your own accounts; Briefs includes script and storyboard tools. Basic has saved-ad and brief features, while Spyder and Lens start on Workflow. If you use those together, replacing Foreplay with a research-only product could leave a gap in your day.
How do Foreplay and StealAds compare for everyday tasks?
Foreplay details come from Foreplay’s pricing page. Prices are as of November 2026. StealAds plans start at $149 a month; see pricing.
On a phone, scroll the table sideways to see every column.
| Task or term | Foreplay.co | StealAds |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | Basic $59/month; $49/month billed annually | From $149/month (Growth) |
| Main job | Saved references, briefs and team workflow | Meta rival research to your image draft |
| Ad sources | Saving extension includes Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn | Public Facebook and Instagram ads |
| Follow rivals | Spyder on Workflow and above; Meta tracking | Follow rival brands; stopped history for followed rivals |
| Save ads | Boards, folders and tags | Collections |
| Make something new | Scripts and storyboards | Your version of an image ad; credits after approval |
| Connect your own account | Lens on Workflow and above | No own-account analytics |
| Free option | Seven-day card-required trial; no free plan listed | Free browser tools separate from the app |
What does Foreplay cost as of November 2026?
| Foreplay plan | Monthly billing | Per month, billed annually | Included users |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $59 | $49 | 1 |
| Workflow | $175 | $149 | 5 |
| Agency | $459 | $389 | 10 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Unlimited |
Prices as of November 2026, checked November 5, 2026 on Foreplay’s pricing page. Extra users are $20 each; extra Lens brands are $50 each. Annual figures are monthly equivalents, not month-to-month subscriptions.
Foreplay offers a seven-day trial with a card. The selected plan starts billing automatically unless you cancel during the trial. The page states a 14-day money-back guarantee after the first charge, but also says annual commitments aren’t refundable and don’t receive prorated refunds. Confirm the applicable terms before committing annually. Monthly subscriptions can be cancelled.
What should you check before leaving Foreplay.co?
Check the plan you actually use. Basic doesn’t include Spyder; Workflow includes five users and one Lens brand; Agency includes ten users and ten Lens brands in the comparison table. Extra seats and Lens brands cost extra. A replacement that only matches saved boards might not cover the account reporting or briefs your team relies on.
Foreplay’s Workflow tracking allowance is inconsistent on the pricing page: the monthly card says 10+ brands and the comparison table says 15. Annual plans advertise tracking without a numeric cap. Ask Foreplay to confirm the monthly allowance rather than relying on either number as a firm entitlement.
Don’t assume an older review describes today’s plans. We used the current pricing page for plan terms rather than older credit descriptions. Check renewal and cancellation before starting a second subscription, and try the same research task in the replacement first.
When is StealAds a useful Foreplay alternative?
Choose StealAds when you want to go from a Meta rival’s image ad to your own draft.
Search public Facebook and Instagram ads, follow rival brands and save useful references in collections. StealAds keeps stopped-ad history for rivals you follow. You can use run length to choose what to study, then make your own version of an image ad for your brand. You see a cost preview first, and generation uses credits only after you approve.
The tradeoff is scope. StealAds doesn’t connect to your own ad account or show your performance. We don’t see another brand’s results. A long run gives you a question worth investigating, not proof that the ad worked. Search results are samples; don’t treat a search as a complete record of a brand’s advertising.
Start with a specific task: follow a rival, save a reference, then describe what needs to change for your product. Keep your own claims and brand assets accurate. If you only need to look at today’s ads, you may not need another tool. StealAds plans start at $149 a month. See pricing.
If you need a shared reference workflow across several ad libraries, Foreplay offers the more relevant feature set. If you’re focused on public Meta ads and an image draft, try that specific task in StealAds before deciding which routine suits you.
Which other Foreplay alternatives match different research tasks?
StealAds appears first above because this is a StealAds comparison. The other choices below serve different jobs. Vendor links source each row. Prices are monthly billing as of November 2026.
| Alternative | Choose for | Entry price | Check before switching |
|---|---|---|---|
| StealAds | Meta rivals to an image draft | From $149/month (Growth) | No own-account analytics |
| Atria | Research, creation and account analytics | Free plan; paid promo active | Credits and plan entitlements |
| AdSpy | Comment, offer and affiliate searches | $149/month advertised | Not a verified replacement for briefs |
| BigSpy | Creative discovery | Free; Starter $69/month | Channels and tracking depend on plan |
| Minea | Product and shop research | $49/month Starter | Extra channel descriptions conflict |
| PowerAdSpy | Research across networks | $69/month Basic | Broader access needs higher tiers |
| Motion | Your own account analytics | $999/month Starter | Different job from a swipe file |
| Meta Ad Library | Occasional current-ad checks | Free | History varies by location and category |
When does Atria make sense for ad research and creation?
Choose Atria if you want research, creation and your own account analytics together. Atria is broader than StealAds. Its pricing page lists brand following, saved-ad boards, AI image creation, scripts, account analytics, publishing through its agent and an MCP server. Atria also advertises making a new image from a reference ad. StealAds isn’t the only product offering that job.
Atria’s free plan needs no card and includes one library search and 1,000 one-time AI credits. Those allowances don’t refill. Filters and scrolling can count toward the search, so decide what you want to research before opening the library. Paid-plan trials are considered case by case.
A Black Friday promotion was active when we checked. We haven’t used those promotional prices as ordinary rates. Check the current Atria offer before choosing a billing term.
When is AdSpy useful for Facebook and Instagram research?
Choose AdSpy if you need detailed search filters. AdSpy lists searches across Facebook and Instagram by ad text, comments, advertiser, affiliate identifiers and landing-page technology. You can use those fields to investigate a particular offer or the language people use in comments.
AdSpy advertises $149/month as of November 2026. The homepage calls that an introductory offer; don’t assume the rate will stay fixed. Annual pricing and trial terms weren’t stated on the public pages we checked. AdSpy’s information page gives you a 24-hour refund window after purchase; later refunds are discretionary.
Don’t buy AdSpy expecting the same deliverable as a new image draft in StealAds. The public AdSpy page describes a search product; we couldn’t verify an equivalent image-generation workflow there.
When is BigSpy useful for a free research plan?
Choose BigSpy if you want to try a recurring free research allowance. BigSpy’s Free plan includes Facebook creatives, 10 searches a day and 20 tracked creatives in total. Starter adds Instagram; the comparison table shows additional channels on higher plans. Check the plan-by-platform table for the channels you actually need.
As of November 2026, BigSpy lists Free at $0, Starter at $69/month, Growth at $159/month, Scale at $399/month and Ultimate at $499/month on monthly billing. Annual billing displays $49, $119, $299 and $399 per month respectively, paid annually. Scale includes five seats; the other paid plans list one. Paid subscriptions renew automatically, and you can cancel before renewal in your account. Confirm trial and refund eligibility before paying.
Tracking a creative isn’t the same decision as following a brand. Check which of those jobs your chosen plan includes before moving your research routine.
When does Minea fit product and shop research?
Choose Minea if your research starts with products and shops. Minea’s plan cards list Meta ads, product listings, shop listings and a brand tracker. That’s a different starting point from choosing an image reference and making a draft for a brand you already run.
As of November 2026, Starter is $49/month, Premium $99/month and Business $199/month. Quarterly billing displays monthly equivalents of $39, $79 and $158; annual billing displays $34, $69 and $139. Starter lists 10 AI ad analyses and 10 transcripts a month, compared with 50 of each on Premium. Business lists those features without a numeric cap.
Minea’s channel descriptions conflict between the page body and FAQ. We haven’t treated the extra channels as confirmed plan entitlements. The FAQ mentions a free Lite offer and says payments aren’t refundable; verify what Lite currently includes and the checkout terms before buying.
When does PowerAdSpy fit research across several networks?
Choose PowerAdSpy if you need to compare network access by tier. Basic lists Facebook and Instagram. Standard adds Pinterest and Google Display; Platinum adds YouTube, Native and Google Search. Palladium adds LinkedIn, TikTok, Quora and Reddit, which the page labels as niche coverage.
As of November 2026, monthly prices are $69 for Basic, $99 for Standard, $279 for Platinum and $399 for Palladium. The annual cards display $27, $39, $83 and $119 per month, but the printed upfront totals are $331, $475, $1,004 and $1,436. Use the printed totals when comparing annual commitments rather than multiplying the rounded monthly figures.
The cards offer three-day paid trials: $1 for Basic and $7 for the other plans, followed by the monthly rate. Cancel before day three to avoid that charge. You can cancel from your account and retain access until the billing period ends. Check the refund policy separately; a paid trial isn’t a promise of a refund.
When is Motion a different job from competitor ad research?
Choose Motion if your main question is about your own ads. Motion’s Starter plan lists creative analytics, AI tagging, reports and briefs, alongside its Inspo research tool. StealAds doesn’t connect to your own ad accounts or show your performance, so StealAds isn’t a replacement for account analytics.
As of November 2026, Motion Starter is $999/month for up to $50,000 in monthly advertising expenditure. Pro and Growth require a conversation with Motion; the pricing page places them above $50,000 and $125,000 respectively. Starter includes seats and ad accounts without numeric caps. The page doesn’t state an annual price, trial duration or refund policy, so confirm those directly.
When is the free Meta Ad Library enough instead of Foreplay?
If you only need to check a few advertisers’ current ads, start with the official Meta library. You can search advertisers and keywords without a paid research subscription. Political, EU and qualifying UK ads have separate history rules; ordinary commercial ads outside those cases aren’t a permanent archive.
Keep your notes focused: what does the ad promise, how does the opening work, and what would you change for your customer? You don’t need a team board just to answer those questions once. You might need a saved-reference or tracking tool when the same task becomes part of your weekly routine.
Read the Meta Ad Library guide for the research method, or Meta Ad Library alternatives for the archive distinctions. Our ad spy tools guide compares the wider category, and StealAds vs Foreplay focuses on the two-product decision.
What questions should you ask about Foreplay alternatives?
Is Foreplay.co worth paying for?
Foreplay can fit if you need shared boards, briefs and, on eligible plans, competitor tracking and own-account analytics. If you only check current Meta ads occasionally, start with the free Meta Ad Library before committing to another workflow.
Does Foreplay.co have a free plan?
Foreplay’s pricing page lists a seven-day card-required trial, rather than a permanent free plan. The selected plan bills automatically after the trial unless you cancel. The free Meta Ad Library is an option for occasional searches.
How do you cancel a Foreplay subscription?
Foreplay says you can cancel a monthly subscription and cancel a trial before auto-billing. The pricing page doesn’t give a step-by-step cancellation path; use account billing or contact Foreplay support if you can’t find the control. Annual commitments aren’t refundable under the stated terms.
Can StealAds replace Foreplay Lens analytics?
No. StealAds doesn’t connect to your own ad accounts or show your performance. Choose StealAds for public Meta rival research and an image draft, not as a replacement for account analytics.
Is Atria a broader Foreplay alternative than StealAds?
Yes. Atria lists research, brand following, AI image creation, account analytics and publishing. StealAds focuses on public Meta ads, following rivals, saving references and making your version of an image ad.
Is MagicBrief still available as a Foreplay alternative?
No. MagicBrief closed on July 31, 2026. Don’t choose MagicBrief from an older alternatives list as though the product were still available.
How were these Foreplay alternatives checked?
We compared the public vendor pages linked in this article on November 5, 2026. Prices are in US dollars as of November 2026. We checked published features and terms, not private accounts or campaign results. These are descriptions of the vendors’ documented offerings, not hands-on ratings. We haven’t ranked products by library size or claimed a complete advertising archive.
StealAds descriptions stay within public Meta research, following rivals, collections and making your version of an image ad. Trial, refund and pricing gaps remain explicit. Re-check prices and terms before each publication or update, especially promotional offers. The links beside claims and the source list below let you check the basis for each comparison.
